The King Street Arts Center

The Freedman School of Arts, Crafts & Culture campus is transforming two former public buildings into a vibrant creative hub featuring artist studios, galleries, classrooms, community gathering spaces, and year-round arts programming. This vision would not have been possible without the generosity of the Stewart family and our many supporters.

At the heart of the campus is the King Street Arts Center, located at 1407 King Street. The Arts Center serves as a dynamic destination for creativity, education, and community engagement, featuring working artist studios, showroom spaces, and an Art & Craft Gallery showcasing the work of more than 50 local and regional artists.

More than a gallery, the King Street Arts Center is a place where residents and visitors can connect with artists, experience creativity firsthand, and celebrate the vibrant arts community that enriches Beaufort.
