Class Information
Whimsical Spring Gardens Celebrate SPRING creating your own magical gardens on canvas in a whimsical representational style. While this class is gently guided, it allows all artists to create their own vision of a perfect spring day in colorful glory. We will bloom creatively while we enjoy the colors, shapes, and the fresh, renewed feeling of the season. Outline Introduction: 10 minutes Explanation of the process and the style of representational Orientation of the tools and resources available Finding Inspiration: 10 minutes Inspiration photos and florals will be available Hand outs provided showing references for shapes of flowers in this representational style First layer: 30 minutes Landscape Composition – guidance Layering in the sky on the canvas (12 X 12) with color and tools guidance Allowing canvas to dry Flower techniques: 15 minutes Demonstration of brush and tool techniques for floral shapes Trial of techniques for flower compositions on paper while canvas dries Second Layer: 60 minutes Applying whimsical flower shapes to the canvas Guidance on composition of the gardens Individual assistance Drying as needed (dryers provided) Final Layer: 15 + minutes Demonstration and guidance for adding finishing touches Big reveal to the group & photo

We are honored to provide meaningful, creative experiences for our community. Because our classes require advance preparation, instructor commitment, and material purchases, we have established the following policy: Registration & Payment Full payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your seat. Class sizes are intentionally limited to ensure an intimate and engaging experience. Refund Policy All class registrations are non-refundable. This policy allows us to fairly compensate our instructors and secure necessary materials in advance. Transfers If you are unable to attend, your registration may be transferred to another participant. To transfer your seat, please email the full name of the new attendee to: Director@FreedmanArtsDistrict.org Transfer requests must be submitted prior to the start of the class. Class Cancellations by Freedman Arts District In the rare event that a class must be canceled due to weather, low enrollment, or unforeseen circumstances, participants will receive either: A full refund, or The option to transfer to a future class.
